Motivation
In the last few decades the number of post-graduate students has grown dramatically, from a few thousand in the early 1960's, to 200,000 in 1989, doubling again to almost 400,000 today.  A large percentage (about 30 % overall and far higher in some universities and departments) are from overseas.  This growth brings many exciting opportunities to develop a more focussed witness to the post-grad community.  Here and there around the UK models to do this have been springing up, for example at Cambridge University, the Christian Graduate Society (CGS) has been reaching the post-grad and international student community for about 10 years.  In other places other initiatives might provide inspiration for all of us. We feel the time is right to bring together people from across the UK to discuss various models of ministry to the post-grad community, and to learn from and encourage one another.  Most of all we hope the Lord will use the day to send us back to our own homes with a VISION of what He might do, and some SPECIFIC IDEAS about how to go about it.  So please come ready to share any experiences of post-grad ministry you already have, and also to learn from the experience of others.  As you register, we'd like to know if you have an existing model to describe to us in the first part of the 10.30 session, or some other ideas to bring up in the discussion in the second part, or if you will be here just to pick up ideas in the hopes of starting something from scratch.

hosted by the Cambridge University Christian Graduate Society
